The het for pied because its a fairly new animal I would do the following first. Set him up in his own cage! You really shouldnt house snakes together other than for breeding. Make sure of your temps 90 high side 80 on the cool side. give him fresh water and dont handle him or bother him for 2 weeks. Dont hold him or try to feed him or constantly open his tank. Make sure he has a place to hide . After the two weeks offer him a small meal like a rat fuzzy ....If you pre scent the room first it may help. Just put the rat in the room in a tub close to your animal for about 20 min. Put the fuzzy in his tub and let him be and watch from a distance. Feeding in the late night hours is best and in dim light or dark. Give some details on the other snake ? Has it eaten many times for you and hows her weight ? 6 weeks is not that long for a ball python at a healthy weight ! Im guessing you have been feeding in a seperate tub . seperating them and feeding in their original tub will help. Get back to us! Others are welcome to give their opinions ! Lets be helpful! This is a starting point and size type and colors of feed are other options. Checking for parasites also should be a consideration. Mites, Ticks, ?;D

I don't have a scale and she was a strong feeder until a ruff shed and she just had another shed that went quite cleanly and it hasn't even been a week since and feeding day is Tuesday. I'm not 100% about this but I think a set schedule is good. and she hasn't lost any wait that I can visually see. I actually think it was the rough shed that caused it.

Heres a tip for problem sheds! As soon as you see them starting to go blue. Mist with a water bottle every day until they shed . I have a couple that no matter what the humidity I have to mist for a clean shed. I would try at some point to get a digital scale so you can record weights monthly. I keep a record card for every snake we have. If you go to the download link from the home page you can download a feed chart to keep records of feeding, sheds, weights and any notes like copulations or illness . Thanks for posting and let us know how your feeding attempts go. I have had healthy adult males go off feed for 3 months. Some times a gerbil can jump start them into feeding. Make sure you watch a gerbil closely because they can attack a snake sometimes. Good luck and keep us posted!

wow I am actually beginning to raise gerbils so I can feed them thair natural feed and all the young will of course be on mice espesuly the ones I decide to sell that is if they end up breeding and thank you In the long run rats are much easier to raise than mice. African soft fured rats are their natural feed. The gerbil would be a good way to get them feeding and then switch them to rats. One way that works sometimes is to take a gerbil rub it all over a rat and then feed the rat. Bryan

what size should they be before they can eat full grown gerbils A full grown gerbil is quite the meal and should only be offered to an adult ball python. A good method is to look at the largest diameter on the snakes body . Feed a prey item no bigger than the largest diameter of the snake. I would try smaller prey first with a problem feeder. Have you been able to seperate them into seperate cages? Thanks for posting Bryan .
