Due to the upcoming breeding season My question will have more than one correct answer! What are some things to consider before breeding season gets underway ? Ill post my input here !
1. Dont wait til you have eggs to prep your incubator! 2. Sex your animals , I wasted a whole season trying to breed two males. They never battled and were trying to lockup . I trusted a fellow breeder on the sex and learned a valuable lesson. that is why it is so important to buy from someone you trust. Make sure when buying hets the breeder has some references you can confirm.

Great stuff. I know what ya mean about sexing animals. I had a female that looked alot like a male, it was a while back before I knew how to probe. I put it in with a female to see if it would try to breed her and it went to town. Since then I sex everything as soon as I get it. I get all my new animals from alot more reputable sources now too and I haven't had anymore problems.
I would also consider the animals overall size and make sure that it's in nothing less than excellent health. I would rather wait a year for babies that loose an animal.
I also like to have my baby rack all set up, a good amount of live pinky feeders, and also some tubs for special needs babies just in case. All of this stuff gives me something to do instead of staring at a female waiting for her to drop too. Best of luck to everybody this season. Nick

These are all great things to consider. I'm working on a incubator right now, not waiting till the eggs arrive this time LOL... I think one of the first things to consider is who will be paired up with who, and what you want to produce with what you have.

I think you guys are rubbing off on me a little. I don't even own any snakes that lay eggs and last nite I was looking at a spare ice chest and an extra helix I have and thinking making an incubator.
