What kind of substrate is recommended for Kenyan Sand Boas? I went to the pet store and they want $3.99 for a small bag that will fit in one hand, and another store that wants $1.00 a pound.

Ya, I'm really just into ball pythons also but I got three kenyans for free. The girl said they wouldn't eat, I got them home and put them in a large tub with belly heat. Now they are trying to eat me out of ASF rats. She only had heat lighting for them, with the belly heat they started eating the next day. I have four now another rescue.

well they are burrowing snakes so for right now u could use shredded paper as substrate. and the kenyan breeder that i know keeps them seperated because hes had cases of cannibals! and he told me as long as you have heat pad under the tank and a lamp above they should be fine. or if you have racks the temp. needs to be the same as a ball python. some people dont know that ball pythons live in the same habitat as sand boas. kenyans live in both deserts and savannahs. also, u probably already know this but he feeds them 1 a week. he has the third largest female kenyan in captivity! good luck!!

I have all four in the same tub, I hope they don't eat each other. Now you got me worried I will need to pull them out and count them. I don't have the room right now to put them in separate tubs. I wonder how big is the largest female kenyan in captivity?
